If you are ready to challenge yourself, accelerate your career, and give new hope to patients, there's no better place than here at BMS with our Cell Therapy team.The Senior Director of Business Excellence is a key role within the Summit, NJ Site where cell therapy operations performs the manufacturing of Autologous Cell Therapy treatments, Abecma and Breyanzi. This role is a key member of the Site Leadership Team (SLT) and is a trusted leadership role serving as the chief of staff to the Site Head and Vice President, Operations. Works directly with the Site Head with input from the SLT setting site strategies, overseeing strategy execution, managing site governance, leading operational excellence and the program management office. Drives the development of goals and strategy while ensuring appropriate KPIs are created, reported and managed. Develops the site operational excellence roadmap and builds site maturity enabling attainment of goals. Drives Program and Project Management best practices, promotes standard project management practices across the site in alignment with network practices.Shifts Available:Monday - Friday, Standard Working Hours, Primarily OnsiteResponsibilities:Lead a department of approximately 25 staff focused on:Operational Excellence (OpEx):

  • Develop the site Operational Excellence strategy and lead execution of OpEx maturity roadmap.
  • Lead OpEx initiatives driving performance improvement in all aspects of site operations with a focus on improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People.
  • Act as a consultant for support site initiatives
  • Lead major network business change initiatives to achieve desired business results.Program Management Organization (PMO):
    • Lead strategy development, deployment and execution in partnership with the senior leadership team.
    • Direct development, integration and realization of plans associated with Site and CTO strategies; lead the alignment of clear objectives and key performance metrics and ensure accountability via data analytics and reporting tools.
    • As a member of the leadership team, work with SLT to identify and prioritize site and network initiatives that are aligned with the strategic plan.
    • Provide strategic leadership for program governance, management, and benefits realization.Knowledge and Skills:
      • 15+ years cumulative experience within the pharmaceutical or related industry
      • 10 years' cumulative experience as a manager of operations, project management or operational excellence teams or equivalent
      • Demonstrated leadership in managing high performing teams, attracting talent, and communicating effectively. Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders at all levels, including executives with differing priorities. Strategic thought partner for Site Lead and SLT. Capable of building legitimacy through cultivating honest relationships. Ability to generate trust by demonstrating the highest level of consistency between their words and their actions and maintaining integrity, especially under pressure. They role model and promote an environment of openness. High degree of customer focus and collaboration in a team environment.
      • The ability to make decisions, set priorities and share resources based on what will benefit the whole. Capable of building and maintaining networks within and outside of the organization to both strengthen the understanding of the big picture and leverage diverse perspectives, experiences and expertise to maximize performance.
      • Capable of constantly thinking ahead and scanning the environment for opportunities. The ability to navigate ambiguity for themselves by demonstrating smart risk taking and personal resilience. Lead others through change by continuously creating the context and engaging individuals.
      • Capable of maintaining a current and strategic view of talent management, aligned with the organization's priorities. This includes an understanding of the needs and diversity of the organization's current and future talent. Ability to proactively develop talent across the organization and engage external talent.
      • Delivery - gets the job done. Exhibits a sense of urgency on critical time-dependent issues. Demonstrated planning and organizational skills and ability to manage various priorities and timelines. Problem-solving skill set with the ability to lead strong personalities and drive open items to effective resolution. The ability to work through ambiguity and independently. Capable of creating structure & process where required.
      • Solid business skills including budget management experience
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced industry and environment, comfortable dealing with ambiguity while driving to make decisions quickly.Basic Requirements:
        • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline required
        • Master's degree or advance degree preferred
        • Six Sigma / Lean certification required
        • PMP Certification preferredWorking Conditions:
